The Elmira High School volleyball team on Oct. 19 celebrated seniors Dayshah Conklin, Kelsey Hemple, Lillian Ossowski and Kara Catmull during the last home game of the season.

Falcon News reached out to the seniors and asked them to reflect on their time at EHS.

Asked about her favorite memory, Conklin said, “Laughing with my team.”

Her advice to the upcoming players is “to not give up on yourself or each other.”

Hemple described her favorite memory: “On our way to a tournament, Tessa was driving the small bus and the door wouldn’t close. Hannah Humphrey came through and held it till we got to the school.”

Her advice to new players is, “Practice how you play and always be looking to improve.”

For Ossowski, her favorite memory “is going to Sisters and playing there. I played a great game, getting block touches against Sisters hitters and passing hits, too. Then, after the game we ate pizza that was huge. One slice was as big as my head.”

Her advice for the future players is to “just enjoy the game you love to play. Don’t get down on yourself if you mess up. Just have fun because in the moments when you are having the most fun is also when you are playing your very best.”

Catmull’s favorite memory “would have to be long bus rides. It was just a time where everyone was laughing and having fun with one another.”

Her advice is “to have fun. Yes, you should be competitive, but if you aren’t have fun then you won’t be playing to your best.”
