The Elmira High School volleyball team played a tough match-up against Pleasant Hill on Tuesday, losing in three sets.

Leading the Falcons in kills were junior Jayden Breaux and senior Kara Catmull, with two each. Catmull also scored an ace.

Junior Morgan Hansen and ninth-grader Natalia Shoemaker each had one kill. Shoemaker also had one ace.

Senior Lillian Ossowski scored two aces and had three assists. Breaux, junior Hannah Humphrey and junior Josey Robbins each had one assist.

“Overall, the match was competitive; however, we made a lot of mental errors,” head coach Tessa Slager said. “We needed to be aggressive with our hitting, and unfortunately, we sent a lot of balls over the net without being aggressive.

“We’re looking forward to Jefferson [Thursday] as well as our tournament this weekend to bounce back and start playing aggressive Falcon volleyball again.”

The weekend tournament will be held at Yamhill Carlton High School.

The next home match is Tuesday against Siuslaw, with junior varsity starting at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:30 p.m.
