The Elmira Falcons girls soccer team played their last home game on Wednesday against the Junction City Eagles, with the Falcons suffering a tough 0-1 loss but also celebrating the team’s senior night.

Seniors Mackenzie Wisner, Claire Head and Riley Peeler were recognized as they were escorted by family and friends onto the field and given gifts from the team.

Each senior also gave a speech about what they hope to accomplish after high school, who they wanted to thank for their support, and advice for the underclassmen. It was a sad but exciting game for the girls — their last home game with the team.

The Falcons played tough but lost 0-1. Junction City matched the energy of the Falcons and barely edged Elmira out of a senior night victory.

Elmira players Ailea Hogue and Iris Frome said about the game: “We all played our hardest and really represented our seniors. It was a great way to end our league season.”

Elmira has one more game this season and a chance to make it to the playoffs in their play-in game scheduled in the next two weeks.
