The Elmira High School girls soccer players proved to be scoring machines on Tuesday in a dominating 8-0 win over La Pine in a home match, then followed that up with a 7-3 win Thursday against Siuslaw.

Seven Falcons scored goals on Tuesday, kicked off by a left-footed shot from sophomore Julia Lasby in the first minute with an assist from ninth-grader Rainee Foltz.

“It really set the pace,” head coach Maddy Lee said.

Junior Mele Turtura scored two goals, in the 3rd minute and again minute 20 with an assist from sophomore Ava Greene.

Other first-half goals were scored by sophomore Lily Admire in minute 15 with another assist from Foltz, senior Ailea Hogue assisted by fellow senior Iris Frome in minute 32, Greene in minute 36, and Frome finished out the half with the seventh goal in minute 38 with an assist from junior Isa Turtura.

Ninth-grader Jocelyn Foltz played goalkeeper in the second half and had two saves.

Coach Lee said notable players of the game were junior Grace Manley, Admire, Rainee Foltz and Greene.

The Falcons scored another solid home win on Thursday, beating Siuslaw 7-3.

Sophomore Emily Wetson scored a goal in the first minute of the game on a breakaway, and scored again in minute 9 with an assist by Burgess.

Burgess followed up Siuslaw’s two goals, in minute 6 and minute 12, with a goal in the 13th minute on an assist by Mele Turtura. Turtura then made the Falcons’ fourth goal of the match with an assist by Weston in minute 38.

It was “a beautiful shot from outside the 18-yard box and over the top,” coach Lee said.

Siuslaw then received a penalty kick in the box and scored their third and final goal at the end of the first half.

For the Falcons, goalkeeper Jocelyn Foltz had five saves in the first half.

Burgess set the tone for the second half with a goal in the first minute assisted by Admire.

Mele Turtura then sent a ball across the face of the goal for a header into the back of the net from Burgess in minute 3. Burgess scored her fourth goal in the 8th minute with an assist from Weston.

Goalkeeper Jocelyn Foltz had two saves in the second half.

Coach Lee named Isa Turtura as a notable player of the game.

“Isa jumps into whatever position I need her. She is my Swiss Army knife,” Lee said. “Isa has a very high soccer IQ, which allows her to play a very smart game of soccer. She was voted as player of the game by her teammates for her performance in the game.”

The Falcons have a 3-2 season record. They are scheduled to play two more home games next week, on Tuesday against Sisters and Thursday against Creswell. The start time for both games is 4:30 p.m.
