The Falcon girls wrestling team competed at regionals on Saturday at Cottage Grove High School. EHS June Highburger and Options senior Katarina Jentzsch both won their brackets to advance to the state tournament.
Highburger’s overall record is 22-2. On Saturday, she had four matches, and won the last match by pin in the second round.
“I feel good,” Highburger said. “I’m going to work hard these next few weeks to peak at state.”
Trackwrestling predicts Highburger will place first or second at state, “but I am just hoping to place,” she said.
The Falcon men wrestlers will compete in regionals this Saturday at Scio High School.
The state wrestling tournament will take place on February 24 and 25 at the Moda Center in Portland.
