Elmira High School boys basketball team honored their seniors on Tuesday against the Harrisburg Eagles.

The seniors on the boys basketball team are Quinton Buckland, Ethan Bennett, and Austyn Woolcott.

During the senior night celebrations, Woolcott, Buckland and Bennett walked onto the court, handed their flowers to their family and looked at the court and stands for the last time as an Elmira player.

The game started off with a jump ball and was tipped towards the Falcons to gain the first possession. The ball was held before a timeout was called to bring Bennett off the court.

The team and fans clapped for Bennett as he walked off the court of his last game. He was unable to play the majority of the season, including the final game, due to a torn ACL.

As the fourth quarter came to an end, Falcon head coach Trevor Daniels called a timeout to pull Woolcott and Buckland from the game. They were met with a round of applause to celebrate and honor their last season in Elmira.

The Falcons fell short against Harrisburg, losing 31-42. The loss left their season record at 3-19.

Buckland expresses his disappointment at how the season went.

“It was a rough year. [It was] hard to have fun when we only won 3 games but it felt good to get a league win against La Pine,” Buckland told Falcon News.

Woolcott was also disappointed, but looked ahead to the future for the younger players.

“It was a rough year, but I had a lot of fun and hope next year will be better for the younger kids” Woolcott said.

“It was a rough year because I got hurt in the first game,” Bennett said.

Coach Daniels was proud of the seniors despite the losing season.

“It ain’t always pretty, but these guys flat out compete,” he said. “Bright futures for all of them.”
