The Elmira Falcons girls team honored senior Iris Frome at senior night against the Harrisburg Eagles on Tuesday.

The senior ended the season with a bang, putting up 24 points and 4 assists against the Eagles. Following close behind was junior Layla Burgess with 15 points and 3 assists.

The Falcons finished the game 55-42 against Harrisburg.

Frome reflected on her last year of basketball as a Falcon.

“It’s been a super fun season,” Frome told Falcon News. “I just like being with this team and laughing on all our bus rides.”

Head coach Jeff Greene coached Frome for her whole high school career. He expressed how he felt about her growth as a player.

“I am so proud of Iris,” the coach said, “and have loved watching her grow as a player for the Elmira Falcons.”

Part of senior night focuses on what the players have planned for their future. Frome, the only senior player, plans to go to college to study biology and animal sciences as an undergraduate.

The girls will go on to face Harrisburg again at home for the first game in the playoffs Thursday night.

Burgess has confidence in the team to make a playoff run.

“I love the way we have grown as a team,” Burgess said. “I really think we have a shot at a playoff run.”
