The Falcon girls soccer team had a tough couple weeks losing three out of the four games played. The Falcons battled it out and ended their losing streak with a win Thursday night, beating La Pine 7-0.

Senior Iris Frome finished the game with three goals. Scoring 1 goal each were juniors Isa Turtura and Layla Burgess, as well as sophomores Julia Lasby and Ave Greene.

Ninth-grader Jocelyn Foltz had seven saves and Burgess had two saves.

“Going on away games is really hard, especially when they’re far away,” Team Captain senior Jade Jones told Falcon News. “But our team really capitalized that night, and we worked really hard and we all got to reap the benefits.”

The Falcons played Central Linn Tuesday night losing 2-4.

Frome and Green each scored a goal.

Burgess had 10 saves and Foltz had 9 saves.

The player of the game was sophomore Maddie Stockinger and head coach Madison Lee praised the performance.

“Maddie won every ball out of the air,” Lee said, “battled in 1v1s and connected beautifully with her teammates.”

The Falcons faced off against Pleasant Hill on Sept. 26 losing 0-2.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to capitalize tonight, but we get knocked down and get up better,” Lee said.

Burgess finished with 22 saves as goalie and was named player of the game by the team.

“Had it not been for Burgess, the score would have been much more dire for us,” Lee commented.

Other notable players were Senior Jade Jones and Sophomore Ava Green.

The Falcons also lost 0-3 against Santiam Christian on Sept. 28.

Burgess had nine saves and Foltz had four saves at goal.

The head coach said the loss was an issue of not being able to “put one in the back of the net.”

The Falcons next home game is Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. against Pleasant Hill. The game will be senior night for the girls and the last game of the season.

The team will play next at Siuslaw on Tuesday.
