The Elmira Falcon football team hosted the Creswell Bulldogs on Friday and ended the night with a 14-0 win.

In OSAA rankings, the win pushes Elmira forward to be ranked 9th in state for 3A.

The Falcons scored two touchdowns in the first half, but struggled to score in the second half.

Senior quarterback and team captain Quinton Buckland ended the game with 148 pass yards and one passing touchdown, and ran the ball for 113 yards with one rushing touchdown. Junior wide receiver Kyler Colwell finished with 75 receiving yards with one receiving touchdown.

Colwell is happy with the win, but wants to do better.

“I wish we played better in the second half,” he said. “But we showed up and got the win.”

Buckland agrees that despite the win, the team should have been performing at a higher level.

“We came into the game off of a bad week of practice and only scored two touchdowns in the first half when we could’ve put up at least three more touchdowns,” the team captain told Falcon News.

The Falcons next game is at Pleasant Hill High School on Friday at 7 p.m.

Falcon junior varsity also beat Creswell, finishing 30-14 and is the JV team’s first win in three years.

Touchdown scorers were sophomores Eben Dickinson and TyRay Chacon, who received two touchdowns each from ninth-grader quarterback Talon Jerabek. Junior running back Jarron Hartley ran in for another score.

The Falcon defense also played a strong part in the game after Hartley made an interception, as well as tipped the ball to ninth-grader safety Daylun Horner to make a second interception.
