Donny Hartley on Chiefs Win Over 49ers: ‘Is This the Start of A New Dynasty?’

Last Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs came out on top over the San Francisco 49ers in an overtime thriller, winning by a walk-off touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman to conclude Super Bowl LVIII.

The game started off slow. There were no points scored until the second quarter when rookie 49ers kicker, Jake Moody, hit a Super Bowl record breaking field goal distance of 55 yards to take a 3-0 lead over the Chiefs.

Later on, San Francisco scored again off of a trick play, bringing their lead to 10-0. The Chiefs responded with their own field goal to put the score at 10-3 heading to halftime.

The 49ers defense came out of halftime strong, forcing Patrick Mahomes to throw an interception immediately. They were unable to take advantage of the turnover and were forced to give the ball back to the Chiefs.

Kansas City struck back with a Harrison Butker 57-yard field goal, breaking Moody’s record and bringing the score to 10-6.

Late in the third quarter, 49ers receiver Ray-Ray McCloud fumbled a punt which was recovered by the Chiefs. On the following play, the Chiefs scored their first touchdown and took their first lead of the game at 13-10.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy answered by throwing a six yard touchdown to receiver Juan Jennings, but Jake Moody missed the extra point, making their lead an unfortunate 16-13. The Chiefs took advantage of this and eventually made another field goal, tying the game at sixteen.

Moody later redeemed himself with a field goal to give the 49ers the lead. It didn’t take long for the Chiefs to answer, with Butker scoring a late field goal and sending the game to overtime.

The 49ers won the overtime coin toss and elected to receive the ball. Owning the first possession of the new game, they used most of the clock and ended with a Moody field goal.

The Chiefs needed a touchdown to win or a field goal to tie, but with future Hall of Fame head coach Andy Reid calling the plays, there is no tying.

Mahomes threw for a perfect 8/8 on his last drive as well as rushing for twenty-seven yards. The Chiefs capped off the drive with a game winning touchdown pass to Hardman. The Chiefs are going to Disney World!

With back-to-back Super Bowl victories, a lot of people are wondering: is this the start of a new dynasty? Is Patrick Mahomes the greatest quarterback of all time?

This could only be the start of it all, as the NFL has seemingly found their new Tom Brady.
