Exchange Student Julie Binh Tran Reflects on First Thanksgiving in America

Thanksgiving week was a very special week for me and many American people.

We had a Thanksgiving holiday so wonderful with our family. It’s an opportunity for everyone to gather with their loved ones after working hard in society.

It was also special because it was my first Thanksgiving in America.

My host mom took me to the Asian market to buy some food for the party. Being an exchange student, I wanted to introduce my traditional foods to my host family, so I chose to make spring rolls and meatballs — famous foods in Vietnam. It reminds me of my home because of the familiar taste of the food.

That day was a meaningful moment when everyone ate, drank and talked together in a cozy space.
