3 Elmira Students Honored at High School Art Contest

Three Elmira High School students were recently honored in the Tri-County High School Art Contest.

Sophomore Ethan Eutsler won first place in the drawing category, sophomore Madisan Ginter received a Merit Award for painting, and ninth-grader Kaden Velarde received a Merit Award for his drawing.

There were 18 works submitted by students from four local high schools for the April 29-30 event.

When asked for his reaction to receiving first place, Eutsler said, “I thought it was cool, I guess.”

Ginter said, “I was really surprised and I didn’t expect to get that place. I was expecting to get last place.”

Velarde added: “I did not think I would get that place.”
