EHS Students and Staff Share Their Opinions on the Rough and Tough Volleyball Game

EHS staff and students faced each other in the Rough and Tough Volleyball game for a grad night fundraiser on March 3.

In the first game, the seniors barely squeaked past the juniors to move on to play the staff, where they dominated all three sets.

Falcon News went out to gather some thoughts and opinions about the results of the two games.

Senior Jacob Janeczko (Big J)

Question: What was your nickname for the volleyball games? Why?

Answer: “My nickname was Big J because I’m big and my name starts with a J.”

Q: How do you think you did in the volleyball games?

A: “I think I did pretty good.”

Q: Do you think you beat the juniors fair and square?

A: “100 percent there was no cheating involved. Seniors won.”

Q: How would you rate the staff performance?

A: “A solid 3/10. They tried.” 

Senior Nio Turtura (Lost Dog)

Q: What was your nickname for the volleyball games? Why?

A: “Lost Dog because I put on a collar that I found at the bottom of the lake.”

Q: How do you think you did in the volleyball games?

A: “I think I did pretty good. I scored points.”

Q: Do you think you beat the juniors fair and square?

A: “No, I think they cheated. I thought the game was unfair but we still won.”

Q: How would you rate the staff performance?

A: “I would say a solid 9/60.”

Junior Austyn Woolcott (El Macho)

Q: What was your nickname for the volleyball games? Why?

A: “El Macho because my friend told me to do it.”

Q: How do you think you did in the volleyball games?

A: “I think I did great in the game.”

Q: Do you think the seniors won fair and square?

A:”Yes because there was no money on the points, and no because the line girls were on their side.”

Q: How do you think the staff did?

A: “I think the teachers did great and tried their best.”

Junior Quinton Buckland (Him)

Q: What was your nickname for the volleyball games? Why?

A: “Him, because I’m him.”

Q: How do you think you did in the volleyball games?

A: “I think I did good.”

Q: Do you think the seniors won fair and square?

A: “No.”

Q: How do you think the staff did?

A: “Teachers could be better.”

Staff Member Tessa Slager (Mama Tessa)

Q: What was your nickname for the volleyball games? Why?

A: “Mama Tessa because that’s what the girls called me last season.”

Q: How do you think you did in the volleyball games?

A: “I slayed.”

Q: Do you think the seniors beat the juniors fair and square?

A: No, there’s literally video proof of it.”

Q: How would you rate the seniors’ performance?

A: “I think it was a solid 9.75/10.”

Staff Member Rob Lee (Spike Lee)

Q: What was your nickname for the volleyball games? Why?

A: “Spike Lee for obvious reasons.”

Q: How do you think you did in the volleyball games?

A: “I think I was able to hold my own and was dealing with a neck injury at the time. I know I made some mistakes, but I had fun.”

Q: Do you think the seniors beat the juniors fair and square?

A: “Based on the rules of the fundraiser, I would guess yes, but if we were playing legitimate volleyball then no.”

Q: How would you rate the seniors’ performance?

A: “Great, I thought they played really well. Even without the one questionable call they still played very well and won the third game.”
