The results are in, and the winners have been announced. This year’s Prom Court has been crowned!

For this year, the Class of 2022 has seen four of its members ascend to court, while the junior class has two. The seniors are Cosette Fowler, Hunter Stockinger, Rylan St. Germain and Riley Peeler. The junior royalty are Kelly Torres and Ashlyn Turnbo.

EHS Falcon News got the opportunity to sit down and ask these six Falcon Royals a few questions.

Riley

Question: Did you expect to win? What did you think when you learned you won?

Riley: I didn’t know I was going to, but I was excited I won, just ’cause I haven’t been on Court before. I was in shock, because Guldager was pointing the camera at me, I was like, “Why is he pointing the camera at me,” and then they announced my name.

Q: How do you feel that you represent EHS?

Riley: Very excited. I think I’m great for it.

Q: If you were to become Queen, what would your first royal decree be?

Riley: Probably get Ethan more spicy chicken sandwiches.

Ashlyn

Q: You have been elected as Prom Royalty; however, the topic of monarchy is mired in controversy. Do you believe that the British Monarchy should be abolished, or strengthened?

Ashlyn: No comment.

Q: Are you excited for the dance?

Ashlyn: Yes, I am excited for the dance, Clyde!

Q: Given that you are going into your final year of high school next year, what do you look forward to as a senior?

Ashlyn: Less AP classes, and hopefully less anxiety attacks! …. I’m looking forward to all my science electives that I’m gonna take, and uh … sports!

Cosette

Q: How surprised were you when you won?

Cosette: Very. Very surprised. I was in class with another senior who I voted for, who I expected to win, but then they 180-ed and gave it to me, and I was very surprised, and I kinda feel bad getting it.

Q: Being both in leadership and a member of Prom Court, you can be considered something of a leader among your peers. Do you have any words of advice for underclassmen who may be feeling out of place in an unfamiliar environment?

Cosette: I was in an unfamiliar environment, but I have been in a leadership position before, and I really think if you just go to a position in anything that you feel comfortable or confident in, like welding class, or a drama club or athletics, then you can find confidence in that.

Q: You only started going to school here late last year. What makes you think you deserve to win Prom Court, when there are real Falcons who have wanted this their whole lives that you stole the opportunity from?

Cosette: I understand where they are coming from. … something I really take pride in is getting involved in school in all different ways, so I feel like that made a lot of people know who I am, but I also assume that I won on a very slim majority. … I deserve to win because I am superior.

Hunter:

Q: Why do you think you won? Not jealous or anything, just asking.

Hunter: Because I’m the best!

Q: Why should people vote for you for King?

Hunter: Well, it’s their opinion. Their choice. Why not?

Q: If you win King, what will you do with the prize money?

Hunter: There’s prize money?!

Q: No.

Kelly

Q: Did you expect to win? What was your reaction?

Kelly: I wasn’t here when they announced it, so … good. It was a surprise.

Q: Is your crown comfortable? Do you like it? What feedback could you give to leadership to consider when purchasing crowns in the future?

Kelly: I really like the crown. Very comfortable. Maybe a different color. It doesn’t match my dress.

Q: In your opinion, what is the defining experience of being a student at EHS?

Kelly: I like the teachers, especially Mr. Wagner, my favorite. … I just like the atmosphere. It’s pretty chill in here.

Rylan

Q: When boomers talk about high school, they always talk about how these are the best years of your life. Do you think this is true? Did you peak in high school?

Rylan: Looking back when I’m older, it’ll probably be the best time of my life, because I’ll be having to do adult stuff.

Q: You’re going to prom, right??

Rylan: Uh, yeah.

Q: Looking back, now that your senior year is wrapping up, what is your favorite memory of being in school?

Rylan: Probably just goofing around with all my buddies.
