Snowcoming Is Coming! Here’s What You Need to Know

Prepare for Snowcoming! Elmira High School plans to hold its first dance in nearly two years next month.

ASB President Clyde Oglesby recently announced that the winter formal Snowcoming is planned for 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 in the cafeteria. It will help provide students with an uplifting experience after so many traditions and events have been canceled because of COVID-19.

Tickets to the dance will need to be purchased in advance at the bookkeeper’s office in the school foyer. They will not be available at the door, despite what some early posters around the school indicated. The daily announcements will inform students when tickets are available. Tickets will cost $12 for a single ticket and/or a guest pass ($15 at the door) and $20 for couples tickets (two tickets for EHS students only; eligible if both students are part of the EHS student body). Students with an ASB sticker can get $2 off for individual or couples tickets, but not guest passes.

It will be a winter formal, and attire should be semi-formal to formal, so be sure to dress appropriately. Coming with the dance will be its very own Royal Court! Each class will be getting princesses and princes, and there will be voting for a king and queen held at the dance itself.

Voting for the princes and princesses, originally planned for this week, has been moved to Thursday, Dec. 2. Class meetings will be held instead of home rooms for that day. Students should report to the same areas as the previous class meetings: ninth-graders in the main gym, sophomores in the cafeteria, juniors in the auxiliary gym and seniors in the theater.

The leadership class also decided to offer guest passes, which allow someone out of district to attend the dance. To bring a guest who attends school outside of the Fern Ridge district, the EHS student will need to purchase two individual tickets — one for the student and one for the guest. A couples ticket will not be honored for an Elmira High School student who is bringing an out-of-district guest student.

We hope to see you all at the winter formal. Leadership is working hard to make it a memorable event. More information will be coming, so stay tuned!
