Three emergency service personnel from Lane Sheriff’s Office and Lane Fire Authority visited Elmira High School on Friday for the annual Prom safety assembly.

Sergeant Colt Parker, Fire Deputy Diana Holmes and Fire Marshall Brian Sayles each gave short speeches to encourage EHS students attending Prom to make smart decisions, avoid driving while under the influence of any substance and call for help when it is needed.

Sayles described what he tells his son everyday before he leaves the house.

“Have fun. Be safe. I love you,” he said.

He then connected his phrase to every student in the crowd.

“Somebody loves you,” the fire marshal said. “If you don’t have somebody that loves you, I will.”

Prom was hosted at the Ford Alumni Center on Saturday. No major accidents have been reported.
