Elmira High School’s annual Rough ’n’ Tough volleyball game, pitting juniors vs. seniors for a Grad Night fundraiser, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Main Gym.

Admission is $5 per person and $20 for a family.

The senior roster includes TyRay Chacon, Samuel Robertson, Kharsin Vanhtha, Easy Armstrong, Eben Dickinson, Kaeden Garcia, Caleb Breding, Carter Tracy, Dallas Mark, Kyron Smith, Wyatt Frome, Miles Weaver and Gaven Grover.

The senior teams coaches are Caydence Farrar, Taylor Bennett and Lillimae Brumble.

Vanhtha, playing with the nickname “Octane,” shared with Falcon News what he believes his team needs to do to win.

“I think our ability to pass and spectacular serving will be our team’s biggest keys to victory,” Vanhtha said.

Mark, playing with the nickname “Big Country,” said he’s confident in his team’s ability to win the games.

“I’m incredibly confident that we will win. In fact, I know we will win, and we’re gonna sweep them 5-0,” the senior said.

The junior roster includes Chet Garner, Jayson Heinrichs, Ben Voltz, Brayden Huston, Phoenix Remoir, Alexander Zimmerman, Cole Fowler, Ashton Gilliam, Mason Crawford, Korbin Graham, Jonah Cooper, Tanner Christiance, Tristyn Bell, Dixon Inman and Ozzy Flores.

The junior team coaches are Yoselin Coronado Valle, Diana Coronado Valle and Nevaeh Bryant.

Gilliam said he’s confident in his team’s chances in the game, especially considering practice attendance.

“I’m pretty dang confident the juniors show up to practice and the seniors don’t,” the junior said.

When asked about the team’s strengths, Gilliam told Falcon News: “We’re really good at communication and getting the ball in a good position for our tall people to spike it.”

Spectators will have the chance to sway the game by purchasing items for players to wear while playing, such as pool floaties, hit blockers, oven mitts and “dizzy” goggles.

There will also be a can drive outside the front of the school during the game with all proceeds also going to graduation night festivities.
