The EHS girls soccer team battled hard in their games against Sisters and Creswell this week, but the team was unable to come out with a win in either match-up. <\/p>\n\n\n

The Falcons lost 1-6 against Sisters on Tuesday, but the team proved to be competitive after being the first team this season to score on Sisters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The point was made by senior Iris Frome, scoring off of a penalty kick in the last few minutes of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s a really good feeling to know that they’ve played several other teams with several different styles and we still were the first to shoot on them and score,” senior Jade Jones, a team captain, said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goal keeper junior Layla Burgess had a total of 14 saves in the game against Sisters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head coach Maddy Lee was proud of the team, despite the loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Regardless of the score line, my girls fought and battled through every minute,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jones received her first yellow card ever in the game against Sisters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You know it was a questionable call I feel,” she told Falcon News. “But I worked hard and l’ll take it.”<\/p>\n\n\n

The Falcons played Creswell Thursday, losing 1-5 at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burgess had a total of 13 saves in the game and Frome scored another penalty kick for the Falcons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Lee praised Frome’s performance for the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Both were notable games for Iris Frome,” she said. “[Frome] scored both penalty kicks and led her team as captain by walking the walk in both games.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Falcons next game is this Tuesday at Pleasant Hill and starts at 4:30 p.m. Their next home game will be Thursday against Santiam Christian at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
