The Elmira cross country team hosted the annual Country Fair Classic on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n

The classic was brought back last year after not being hosted for six years. The Falcons had been hosting the meet for more than 20 years before the hiatus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Eric Carman told Falcon News that it’s a “unique course.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is the best course and there is no other course like it,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Falcon runners had a great day setting up their one home meet of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was really fun setting up the meet for today,” sophomore Hannah Yaskovic said. “It was a really scenic and fun course.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Jude Spencer is at the end of his cross country experience with the Falcons, now on his third and final year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s exciting that I am near the end,” Spencer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although not everyone had the best day, everyone enjoyed the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I feel like it could’ve gone better,” junior JT Myers said after finishing the race with a bee sting in his calf. “I still had a lot of fun being with the team, though.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Falcons coach admitted that it was a tough day to race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They did fantastic today, and it is hard running in the heat,” he said. “It impacts the runner running in this heat.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team will be competing next at Cheadle Lake Park in Lebanon at 4 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
