Being diagnosed with any disease can be the scariest thing of any person’s life. Seeing that people acknowledge what you\u2019re going through and that people support you can help ease the fear, just a little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and one way to support someone with breast cancer is by wearing a pink ribbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pink ribbon became a symbol for breast cancer awareness in 1992. According to the Breast Cancer Now website, the pink ribbon represents fear of breast cancer and hope for the future. People interested in supporting breast cancer patients even further can donate to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at nationalbreastcancer.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Breast Cancer Foundation was created to close the gap of cancer care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOver the last decade, the NBCF has provided over 192,000 mammograms, over 858,000 patient navigation services, and over 240,000 breast health education services to women in need,\u201d the NBCF website states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NBCF website also has plenty of articles to help you educate yourself on the matter. The articles include topics such as causes of breast cancer, breast anatomy, stages of breast cancer, myths, and other breast cancer resources. Other resources include the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society at Cancer.org, and others that can be found on the NBCF website. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
