The Elmira Falcon football team had an amazing season, filled with much improvement from last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The year was filled with many extraordinary plays and a lot of effort. Unfortunately, like every great season, it has to come to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Falcons had high expectations going into the season and they did not disappoint. Members of Falcons News went out to interview a select number of seniors on their thoughts on the season and what the future of the Falcon football team looks like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior Isaiah Wilson – varsity wide receiver\/cornerback (#6)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Question: What are your thoughts on your senior season?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Answer: \u201cI think that we should have won all our games.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: Do you think\u00a0there is potential for the team after you leave?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cPotential is okay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What’s the greatest strengths of the football team?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cOur greatest strength for the team is our speed.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Isaiah Wilson is a significant athlete with tons of raw talent and a great work ethic. Isaiah offers so much great attributes to the team from a great wide receiver, to an immensely talented cornerback. Isaiah will be a huge loss to the athletic program, but he’s been a great role model to young athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Senior Enrico Cervantez –\u00a0 varsity cornerback (#9)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What’s your greatest accomplishment as a football player?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cMy greatest accomplishment is being a starting cornerback on varsity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: How has football impacted your life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cFootball has impacted my life by making high school better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cervantez has had a good defensive season at the corner position. He helped lead the defense with 2 interceptions during the season. Enrico has been a great addition to the secondary and will definitely be missed going into next season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Senior Noah Sawyer –\u00a0varsity weak\/strong safety (#3)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What’s your greatest accomplishment as a football player?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cMy greatest accomplishment was when I got a 60 yard rushing touchdown.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: How has football impacted your life?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cFootball has impacted my life by taking a lot of free time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sawyer has had an eventful season playing JV, and swinging for varsity. He had a fumble recovery in the winning game against Pleasant Hill in week 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Senior Jacob Janeczko – varsity left tackle\/defensive lineman (#66)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What are your thoughts on your senior season?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cThis season has been okay, kind of upset we won’t go to the playoffs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What’s your greatest accomplishment in football?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cMy greatest accomplishment was getting 2 shutout games.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: Do you think there is potential for the team after you leave?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: “Potential is a yes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What’s your greatest strength?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cOur strength is the ability to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: How has football impacted your life?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: \u201cFootball gave me a reason to work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Janeczko’s last season has been nearly flawless. He’s done a great job protecting varsity quarterback junior Quinton Buckland’s blind side and making it very difficult for any defensive end to get around him.
