Have a sweet tooth? Friday is National Dessert Day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there is no history on the origin of the day, we do know where the word “dessert” came from. The word comes from the French word \u201cdesservir,\u201d which translates to clearing the table, or removing what has been served. The course would be served after all the other dishes were cleared, and the coined term has been used since the early 16th century in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this time, a dessert consisted of spiced wine, fresh or dried fruit, fruit confits or nuts covered with a hard candy shell, which has evolved significantly over five centuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
