The Oregon Department of Transportation<\/a> is working on two projects in the Fern Ridge area to improve road services for residents and other travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One such project is the installation of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at multiple locations along Territorial Highway, in order to fulfill part of a plan from 2017<\/a> for ODOT to meet the accessibility requirements set forth by the ADA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction is expected<\/a> to begin soon and be completed toward the beginning of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second project also revolves around Territorial Highway, this one with the goal “to improve walking and biking conditions on Territorial Highway between the City and Elmira,”<\/a> according to Lane County Public Works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan, part of Veneta’s Fern Ridge<\/a> Trail System, is intent on building a safe footpath for students from residential areas in Veneta to go to school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to public input submitted to the City of Veneta, the plan has widespread support from community members. However, there does appear to bit of discontent with the plan from those who live along the area of the planned path, worrying that the trail will cut through their property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is not yet an estimated completion date for this multiuse path.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
