(Photo by Spencer Stone \/ Falcon News)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">The Elmira High School track and field team is preparing for the 50th annual Elmira Relays event and the first one using the new facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The teams competing at the meet will be the Elmira Falcons, Central Linn Cobras, Crescent Valley Raiders, Harrisburg Eagles, Junction City Tigers, Klamath Union Pelicans, Newport Cubs, Philomath Warriors and Triangle Lake Lakers, totaling about 1,000 athletes competing.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"644\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ehsfalconnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/FKH_2881-e1774979109726.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18642\" style=\"aspect-ratio:0.7763920902584011;width:187px;height:auto\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ehsfalconnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/FKH_2881-e1774979109726.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.ehsfalconnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/FKH_2881-e1774979109726-233x300.jpg 233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sophomore Trayvn DuMont starts his 400m sprint. (Photo by Derek French)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The field events are set to start at noon followed by the running events at 2 p.m., with the meet expected to end around 7 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Falcon News asked senior sprinter Kharsin Vanhtha how he thinks the new track facility will impact the Relays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I feel the track will bring a lot of positives to the event,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think it help improve a lot of people&#8217;s times and scores, as well as just making the environment feel better than it had in previous years.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore runner and jumper Trayvn DuMont is one of several students chasing a class record.
