Elmira High School junior Caetlyn Lillie advances to state after placing fourth in regionals at Cottage Grove High school this last Friday and Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n

Lillie and sophomore Haedyn Hill were the only two girl wrestlers to compete. Hill placed seventh, falling just outside of being in the top four that go to state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lillie had six matches in total, going 4-2 in the tournament. Her current record is 40-8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Falcon wrestler was unfazed about going on to state, but is still looking forward to the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m excited about going on a trip with the team,” Lillie told Falcon News, “and wrestling at a bigger tournament.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The junior admitted that she was disappointed in her performance at regionals, but is proud of her overall progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I have been working on performing better,” she said. “I’ve improved so much since last year. I put in a lot of time over the summer.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys wrestling team will compete at their districts this Saturday hosted at EHS. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head coach Justin Peeler pointed out the wrestlers who have a chance of making state going into regionals this weekend. Only the top three boys in the tournament will advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coach expressed confidence in sophomores Jonah Cooper (who placed sixth at state last season), Tucker Christiance and Tristyn Bell, and senior Zane Clemmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There are a handful of kids who have shots to place and\/or make it to state if they have a good day of wrestling,” Peeler told Falcon News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state competition will be held at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon, beginning Thursday and running until Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
