The Dolly Parton Imagination Library gives books to children in the Veneta-Elmira area through the Fern Ridge Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program is set up to provide books for young kids in need. After signing up, a book will be sent directly to the child’s house once a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to United Way, the Fern Ridge library was able to get the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to the Veneta\/Elmira area. United Way is a program ran by volunteers that donate their time and resources to people in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eligible children start at 5 years old or younger with residence in the Veneta-Elmira area. However, if someone wants to receive books outside of this area, they can check their eligibility on the Dolly Parton Imagination Library website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To sign up, interested parents can go to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library website<\/a> and click on the box that says “CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD?” Steps are provided from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dolly Parton’s inspiration for this program came from her father’s inability to read or write. This program started in her home town of Pittman Center, Tennessee, back in 1995. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou can never get enough books into the hands of enough children,\u201d Parton said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through this program, children now have access to books and learning materials that parents or guardians may not have been able to provide to them before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
