Elmira High School sophomore Marley Arient’s is influenced by her great grandma, who is her favorite artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI love my great grandma and she\u2019s really good at [art],\u201d Arient says.<\/p>\n\n\n

Arient has been creating art since she was little and was taught by her great grandma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She says she continues to create art because she is looking ahead to the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I want to pursue art in the future for part of my profession,” Arient told Falcon News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art teacher Tom Edmundson is very impressed by Arient\u2019s artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs the art teacher it was kind of awesome. As a ninth-grade student last year, her skills were mad,\u201d Edmundson told Falcon News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arient has demonstrated advanced skill to the art teacher in many ways,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe’s really good at drawing. She can draw realistically, she has style, she knows how to handle color,” he said. “I was just impressed from the start.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sophomore has already developed her own unique style that comes out in her work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe\u2019s not searching for how she wants her art to be,” Edmundson said. “She can go from drawing very realistic, but she also has something that\u2019s very Marley-esque so \u2026 she already has a style that\u2019s really cool and not usual \u2026 it\u2019s unique.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

Arient\u2019s favorite medium is drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI feel like I can do lots of different things with them and if I want to start over it\u2019s easy for me to erase and try again,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s just easier for me to learn from the mistakes I made and be able to restart on the same sheet of paper.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her advice to other artists is to \u201ckeep practicing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she isn\u2019t creating art, Arient enjoys fashion and putting together outfits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
