Elmira High School senior Casimira Carleton is an artist who draws to share her emotions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI like how art can make something so plain like a piece of paper, and turn it into something that can have meanings or just something that makes you smile,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton has been self teaching herself how to draw since she was in kindergarten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI basically tried copying off of Pinterest and Google and if it turns out good it turns out good,\u201d Carleton said. \u201cIt was kinda like if I didn\u2019t know how to do it I would just try to copy it off of Pinterest and then it somewhat gave me my style. It ended up morphing how my style is now\u201d.   <\/p>\n\n\n

EHS art teacher Tom Edmundson enjoys Carleton\u2019s art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHer art is very nice,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen she decides she really wants to do something, there isn\u2019t much that really stops her from doing very nice art. Her color art is good and the faces she ends up drawing or painting have a lot of expression, so I respect her as an artist.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

Carleton said she was inspired to draw by her sister. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe loves drawing, or used to, so I always wanted to be like my sister,\u201d Carleton said. \u201cI started drawing to try and be like my sister but that\u2019s the biggest thing. My sister is the one who got me into it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cFlowers, plants and animated eyes,\u201d are Carleton\u2019s favorite things to draw. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton says her favorite mediums are painting and drawing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t just give up when you try a new type of art style for the first time. If you keep trying you will get better,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carleton will continue her art journey through film at Lane Community College for two years. She then plans to apply to the Rochester Institute of Technology to achieve her dreams to become a film director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
