Elmira Falcons hosted the South Umpqua Lancers at home on Tuesday. The boys varsity got off to a hot start, having a comfortable lead going into the second half at 38-27. Unfortunately, the Falcons were unable to maintain the lead throughout the game, losing 44-58.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lancers snapped the team’s two-game winning streak after placing first in the Rogue River Classic tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This team has so much potential to win,” head coach Trevor Daniels said. “We just have a hard time closing games.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Daniels added to his statement, saying that the team needs to be more mentally prepared before\u2014and during\u2014the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was great to be back on the court,” he said. “It sucks that we lost in a game we should’ve won, but we’re gonna come out better on Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead to Friday’s matchup with Scio, Buckland added, “It’s a bad day to be a Logger.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The girls varsity got off to a fast start and never looked back. They pushed the ball in transition and got easy buckets from their skilled ball movement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The girls dominated the first three quarters of the game and, going into the fourth quarter, showed no sign of slowing down. The Falcons won 52-22. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The girls came away with an impressive amount of steals at 25, compared to the Lancers 10. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
