(Courtesy photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Elmira High School junior Ricardo Cervantez will be representing Veneta at the USA National Boxing Tournament in Lafayette, Louisiana, starting next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is fundraising to help pay for travel expenses, including plane tickets, a hotel room and a rental car, for him and his dad\/coach, Enrico Cervantez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EHS student has traveled to nationals three other times, advancing to the semifinals one time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will be fighting at a new weight of 147 pounds. At other national tournaments, he fought at 139 pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The father-son duo have been preparing for the past month, training and fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI train in the gym six or seven days a week,&#8221; Ricardo Cervantez said. &#8220;I try my best to run every morning. I am in the best shape I\u2019ve ever been in for this tournament.
