With winter right around the corner, Elmira High School’s boys basketball team is gearing up for the new season with hopes to make the playoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“You want progression and camaraderie. The main goal is to get better every season, and you want to work together to get better every season,” assistant coach Cody Brock said. “I want the players to be involved, I want kids to stay true to the program and I want them to have a good time. Having a good time is getting wins, so pushing yourself to be the best possible basketball player you can be to eventually win is the most important thing.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior Quinton Buckland also expressed his hopes for the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It is my senior season, and I want to do better than last year, and hopefully win more games,” Buckland said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Junior Kyler Colwell said he believes “our chemistry from last year will improve,” while senior Austyn Woolcott said he hopes this season will be “far better” than last season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sophomore Kyron Smith said the team’s goal is simply to win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We are going to win our games for purple and gold. Our team won’t fold. We are going to win and be bold,” Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sophomore Eben Dickinson said he wants to have a good season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I want to make it to the playoffs,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sophomore Gaven Grover’s goal is to improve as a team and win more games, ultimately making it to the playoffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“My goals are to … make it to the playoffs and set a new culture for the Elmira basketball team,” Grover said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The season kicks off with two road games: at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sweet Home and at 7 p.m. Friday at Stayton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Falcons will kick off their first home games of the season next week: at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against Estacada and at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday against Taft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
