Junior Jude Carman placed 4th and qualified for State after competing at Cross Country Districts in Lebanon Oct. 26. <\/p>\n\n\n

The Falcon runners raced a standard 5 kilometer course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carman finished with a new personal record of 17:14, improving by 40 seconds .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carman was projected to place 6th or 7th going into the race, but finished with 4th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was unexpected,” Carman shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is proud of his performance and how he competed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It felt nice that I was able to raise to that high of a level of competition,” Carman told Falcon News. “It feels good to see the hard work pay off.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State race will be at Lane Community College on Saturday and Carman will be competing in the 3A race at 11:10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be a $6 admission fee for students and $12 for adults. Attendees can order tickets online before the race with this link<\/a>. Some tickets will be available for sale on site with cash only.<\/p>\n\n\n

Carman is excited to finally be making the state competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’ve never done it before,” he said. “It’s a little bit crazy to think about.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s not overwhelming, but it is intense,” Carman continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Falcon runners set new personal records at Districts as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Jude Spencer finished with 20:41. Sophomores Jake VanDamme and Hannah Yaskovic finished with 18:38 and 25:52, respectively. Ninth-grader Thad Mason finished with 18:48.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juniors JT Myers and William Uphold set new season records, but not their personal best. Myers finished with 24:01 and Uphold finished with 21:28. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carman finished by saying he is thankful for the cross country team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
