The Elmira High School boys soccer team celebrated senior night Thursday, honoring seniors David Bay, Brendan Davis and Austyn Woolcott as they played their last home game of their high school soccer careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Falcons took on the Pleasant Hill Billies. The match ended in a 1-1 tie. Sophomore Marvin Hambrick scored for the Falcons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It marked the fifth tie of the season for the Falcons. Their overall record is 2-4-5.<\/p>\n\n\n

“The boys played an extremely good game,” head coach Karson Laing told Falcon News. “We, unfortunately, had a slip-up at the end, allowing them to equalize the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The boys moved the ball well tonight, finding more links and not just looking to play long. Overall, I’m proud of how they played.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked about his favorite memory of his senior season, Woolcott said, “I am scoring more goals in this season.”<\/p>\n\n\n

He also offered some advice to players for next year: “Play hard, listen to the coach, and try doing everything so you can be better.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Davis, his favorite memories “would have to be the long bus rides with my teammates, like to North Bend and Bandon.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His advice to players for next year is “to keep moving forward.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bay said his favorite memory for the season will be “our last bus ride of the season.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His advice for younger players is, “The more confident you are, the better player you will be,” Bay said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Falcons are scheduled to play their last two games of the regular season next week \u2014 at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Creswell and at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at East Linn Christian Academy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
