Each grade will their own tests: ninth-graders are taking the Pre-ACT 8\/9, sophomores the Pre-ACT, juniors the PSAT and seniors the SAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EHS counselor Court Wirth shared some of the benefits of taking the tests, including that for the SAT, scores can be used for many four-year colleges, as well as at Lane Community College and other colleges for course replacement. Scores also can be used for some scholarship applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Juniors taking the PSAT will be eligible for the NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship) program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf a student scored high enough, they could be recognized as a commended scholar or semi-finalist recipient, and eligible for Merit Scholarship awards,\u201d Wirth said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For sophomores, Wirth said taking the Pre-ACT will help them feel more comfortable with standardized testing.
